Which job to pick first in Starsand Island
Which job to pick first in Starsand Island seems like a big choice. Your friendly local mayoral assistant pushes you to pick one and even makes a recommendation for which one to start with. It’s recommended for a good reason, but don’t worry too much if you pick one that you later end up regretting.
Below, we explain which job to pick first in Starsand Island and how to start another job if you want to switch.
Which job should you pick first in Starsand Island?
To save time, it’s a good idea to just pick the recommended Crafter job. However, making a choice doesn’t lock you into a career path. You can pick up both of the other two starting jobs at any point and level them concurrently. Which, given the nature of the game, you’ll likely be doing anyway. Crafter, Farmer, and Rancher are closely intertwined, to the point where you can’t even progress in the Rancher job until you at least start the Crafter job. (The latter gives you a processing machine you need to make materials for constructing a rabbit hutch.)
How to change jobs or start a new job in Starsand Island
The only thing picking your first job does is add a tracked quest to your journal, which leads you to that job’s mentor. There’s no length of time you have to wait before you can start another job, and you can even ignore that tracked quest to go pick up a different career.
If you do want to pick up a different career, just find that job’s mentor, chat with them, and say you want to learn their profession. You can do that with any of the game’s five jobs without having to give up anything else, and there’s no requirement to reach a milestone in one before you can advance another. Well, outside of obtaining specific blueprints. But Starsand Island is a laid-back life game, so you can progress – or not – at your own pace without facing penalties.
