Here’s how likely a fish is to bite your hook:

• Starting rate: Every bait gives you 0.06 (6%) chance
• Rod upgrades add more chances:
  • First upgrade: +0.02 (2%)
  • Second upgrade: +0.04 (4%)
  • Third upgrade: +0.06 (6%)
  • Fourth upgrade: +0.08 (8%)
  • Fifth upgrade: +0.10 (10%)

You can get bonus chances by:

• Using slow-reel: +10% to your total chance
• Using Attractive Angler: +30% to your total chance
• Fishing while it’s raining: +10% to your total chance
• Having drink buffs:
• Regular Catcher’s Cola: +15% to your total chance
• ULTRA or DELUXE Cola: +30% to your total chance

The highest chance you can get is 0.36 (36%).

Catching Different Items

Here’s how the game decides what you catch:

Regular Hook:

• 1-2%: Treasure chest
• 3-5%: Junk items
• 6-100%: Normal fish

Magnet Hook:

• 1-4%: Treasure chest
• 5-10%: Junk items
• 11-100%: Normal fish

Rain Changes:

• When it’s raining, 1-8% gives you special rain fish
• You usually can’t get treasure or junk while it’s raining

How Fish are Chosen:

The game picks three things about your fish.

• What kind it is
• How good it is (tier)
• How big it is

Special Hooks:

• Worm bait: Can’t catch tier 3 (best) fish
• Fly Hook: Always gives smallest fish
• Large Lure: Always gives biggest fish
• Sparkling Lure: Always gives highest tier fish
• Golden Hook: Gives rare fish if possible (Golden Bass, Golden Manta Ray, Diamond, Leedsichthys)

Tips:

• Large Lure is better for catching Whales than Sparkling Lure.
• Bigger fish give more XP.
• If no special hooks are used, you get the first fish rolled.
